2008 Hawaii State Quarter

The Hawaii State quarter, designed by Don Everhart, was launched on November 3, 2008 12:00pm at Bishop Square in Honolulu, Hawaii. Following the ceremony, the public could purchase rolls at face value. Mint State Uncirculated (MS) coins were minted at the Philadelphia (P) and Denver (D) mints.

The U.S. Mint also sold coins from the first day of production, October 9, 2008, on a First Day Coin Cover. The cover was postmarked at Kapaau, Hawaii on the release date, November 3, 2008.

The U.S. Mint cancelled defective (error) coins which produced "waffle cancelled" MS (P) and (D) coins. These cancelled coins were not officially released by the U.S. Mint and do not have U.S. monetary value.
The third-party grading companies (TPG) have issued many special inserts which creates a large variety of aftermarket slabbed coins--and also a lot of confusion. Below is an unofficial list of TPG varieties.
